Chicago, now:
A man traveled down the darkened streets of downtown Chicago, his trench coat draped down to the wet street at his feet. Leaning over a homeless vagrant on one knee, he picked up a newspaper, which was formerly used as a blanket.
Suspects in O'Hare's metahuman outbreak elude police
Friday, September 19, 2001
The Chicago Police Department is still searching for suspects in the strange events on Monday, when a battle occurred between what appeared to be an undead man and an angel, along with other unknown men with an active metagene. The "angel" and his team of "Revolutionaries" escaped, while the zombie-like creature was apprehended by the Chicago Police Department. Only a few hours later, ninjas attacked and killed the officers bringing this creature into custody. It is unknown if they were working with or against the zombie.
Also on Monday, an incident labeled by the Chicago Police Department as a "metahuman outbreak" occurred at O'Hare International Airport. A spectacular show of lights and color filled the sky. It is unknown even at this time if anyone was injured or killed, as the FBI have cut off all media access to the scene, also closing down the airline. CNN was able to get some shots of the scene before being removed forcefully by the Feds. -- Continued on Page 10A
The man thought to himself, Bold print, a triple headline, cover story -- the media is really eating up these crazy occurrences. He continued reading what had happened. Heh. Too bad they have no idea that this is going to kill them all.
"Hey, that's mine!" The homeless vagrant had finally woken up and wanted his "blanket" back. The man in the trench coat smiled and disappeared; the newspaper fell to the ground. The man's eyes widened and seemed to almost pop out of his head. Without blinking, he took a sip from his bottle and went back to sleep.
Footsteps could be heard walking away from the homeless man, and puddles splashed as someone walked across them, but the person making the sound was nowhere.
