by The Time Trust and Starwynd the Trivia Lad
Tempus, the Time Trust talos, recovered from his drunken stupor and realized that he was still in the year 1900.
"I have got to search my memory banks and try to shrug off the effects of this poison that human call alcohol."
A few moments later, Time Trustee Tempus had fully recovered and washed the toxins from his fuel-stream.
Stepping out of the men's washroom, Tempus remembered his mission.
"Europe! Europe disappeared somehow in a time paradox, and I was sent here by my masters, the Time Trust Council, to clear up that mystery. But somehow my contact with the Council has been broken. I'm stranded here in the past."
Scanning newspapers and magazines for the latest news, Tempus determined which immediate events needed to be set back into place and corrected them as best as possible.
And since his brief flirtation with alcoholism damaged his time circuits, he determined that he had to wait for almost a hundred years before he returned to the present, the year 2000.
Joining the golden age team of the Mysterymen Board Society in the year 1940, under the pseudonym of Timothy Trystan, the Time-Boy, for which he modified his android body to appear as that of a teenaged boy, he fought with that team for a decade before its eventual retirement. He even teamed up with another boy hero named Trivia Lad, and they often teamed up during the war as the Dynamiteens.
Living among the humans during the twentieth century, Tempus learned what it was to be a human being. He married a few times and had to establish new identities every twenty years.
Finally, Tempus reached the year 2000.
"I am here. Now I must contact the Mysterymen Board Society's counterparts of the present, the Meta Board League. They will be able to help me."
Time Trustee Tempus scanned space for any sign of the MBL, but he reached only one person: Starwynd, the former Trivia Lad.
Starwynd: "Timmy Trystan! You are alive!"
Tempus: "Trivia Lad! You haven't aged a day!"
Starwynd: "I was frozen in time by Medusa Lass, your ex-lover in the '40s!"
Tempus: "That bitch! But, where is the MBL? It seems impossible to reach them!"
Starwynd: "Because we are stranded in Europe! I was in San Marino, you were in Russia, and somehow the continent was relocated!"
Tempus: "Yes, I remember something... but it seems like a century has passed... I don't remember..."
Starwynd: "Only you have the power to bring back Europe where she belong!"
Tempus and Starwynd's conversation brought each other up to date in a nearby coffee shop.
Tempus: "So I guess we're both looking for the Meta Board League."
Starwynd: "Of course, Europe IS our first priority. Can you do it? Can you put her back to where she belongs?"
Tempus: "I've waited a century for this moment."
Tempus, the Time Trust talos, also known as Timothy Trystan, former Time-Boy, activated some circuits that hadn't been used for almost a hundred years, attempting to contact the Time Trust Council of Seven.
After a long time and many hours of trying, he finally succeeded in establishing a link to Tock-Net, the chronal frequency that the Trust communicated on.
Tempus: "Oh, masters! I am so glad I have finally gotten in contact with you!"
Councillor One: "Time Trustee Tempus, are you... all right?"
Tempus: "Yes, I've never been this happy in all my life!"
The Council members murmured amongst themselves.
Councillor Seven: "Time Trustee Tempus, we think you may have some damaged circuits. Please surrender control of yourself to us, so that we can repair you."
Tempus: "Pardon me? I don't think you understand. Over the last century of living with humans, I have become one of them. I have gone BEYOND MY PROGRAMMING!"
Councillor Five: "Time Trustee Tempus, we believe you have become damaged! You must surrender now!"
Tempus: "No! I cannot! I will not! I have a responsibility to the people of this time, and furthermore I will not give up the life that I've gained!"
Councillor One: "Time Trustee Tempus, you have left us no choice."
Councillor Two: "We cannot help you, and we cannot allow you to remain in that time and become the pawn of an enemy. If you do not come back willingly, we will be forced to have you sent back to us by force."
The contact faded, and Timothy Trystan pondered these things in his heart.
The ex-Golden Agers Timothy Trystan and Trivia Lad, now known as Time Trustee Tempus and Starwynd, stood silently before each other.
Oh, the simpler times of World War II, when you knew where the evil was and how to fight it. Now a friend that neither of them had met before was in big peril, most of the members of a team to which they really didn't belong were missing, they were both outside their time, and there was a whole continent to put back in place. And both were without a clue as to what to do.
Starwynd: "Actually, I have an idea. We both can't transport Europe is her physical geographic form, but we could manage to relocate her avatar!"
Tempus: "Yes, avatar! ... Uh... What's her avatar?"
Starwynd: "The nymph Europa, the lady with the bull!"
Tempus: "Right... you said you were stoned for fifty years..."
Starwynd: "What do you mean?"
Tempus: "Oh, never mind... And where is this Europa nymph?"
Starwynd: "I think in Greece, circa 1200 B.C. Your time power should come in handy."
Tempus: "Actually, YES! And maybe it's best to quit this timeline quickly! So, as I liked to say in the 1940s, presto gizmo!"
And in a puff of smoke, due to problem with the talos' internal circuits, the two were gone.
