'Counting Breaths Meditation' (CBM) is a 2500-year Buddhist meditation practice. I adapted it to suit the modern lifestyle. Tested it on a wide range of people from 4 years to over 90 years over 20 years. The feedback from my practice and others has shaped it into what it is today.
What is special about CBM as presented on this website?
You don't need to join a program to learn and practice it. You can learn from this website and begin practicing the same day.
You will feel calm within a couple of minutes of practice.
You will realize its practicality and usefulness in a few minutes.
You will gain the confidence that you can practice it every day.
You don't need to drop any current activities to practice this meditation. You will use the windows of time in daily life during which your mind wanders.
You don't have to sit in a particular posture or be still.
There are no time limits for its practice. A few breaths or a few minutes of practice are fine.
Once your practice is well set, your mind will trigger 'focusing on breathing'. This will happen within 6 months. You will be de-stressing in auto mode!
I have been offering local workshops since I came to the USA in 2003. I can offer them at libraries, town halls, senior centers, and public and private organizations. I can offer them in-person, and online.
The classes are offered by appointment to individuals, couples, families, and groups. They can be in-person or online.
Clients have a choice of 'tele-sessions' and 'in-person' sessions
I try to meet the client per their availability. I don't set time limits for the sessions.
I can teach in three languages - English, Hindi, and Telugu. The last two are Indian languages.
I found easy ways to reduce stress from study, practice, and feedback from the clients.
I first train the client in 'counting breaths meditation'. When meditation becomes a daily routine, the clients gain some relief. But many clients are still stressed a lot. In such cases, I found that their stress has its roots in unhappy relationships. See the next section.
Many clients didn't get relief from stress though their meditation is well established. It is often due to unhealthy relationships. The problem could be with parents, siblings, relatives, bosses, colleagues, or direct reports.
I counsel the client to view the stressful relationship from a different perspective. Together we identify who is contributing to the problem and to what extent. Then we develop ways of changing the dysfunctional thoughts and responses. We develop better ways of thinking and responding.
In cases of abuse, I help the client break the spell of the abuser, gain clarity on what is happening, and get over the fear.
I have seen many clients come in distress, some even crying from the trauma they endured for years. Many people experienced remarkable change after practicing 'counting breaths meditation'. as a part of their daily life. They begin to smile!
Clients can choose how much they want to pay. No one will be denied the benefit of my services.
