FREE ‘Counting Breath Meditation’ Class
Saturdays, 11.30 to 12.30, HCC Basement, First room on the left
By Suryanarayana Chennapragada (aka 'Surya')
This meditation can be practiced anywhere, anytime by adults, youth, and children while engaged in daily activities, without having to set aside time, sit still, or follow any rules. How? By training your mind to effortlessly watch your natural breathing, rather than wandering into the past or future. When?
Use the natural opportunities when the mind tends to wander: Count your breaths at bedtime to fall asleep, to get back to sleep, and on waking up in the morning until you leave the bed. During the day, focus on a few breaths— waiting at stoplights or in a line, walking at home/work/parking lot, at the store, or on a treadmill, while at work, cleaning, cooking, gardening, or feeling anxious or stressed. Your breathing is always available for your mind to focus on! You could become stress-proof this way!
In this class, we will read, discuss, and practice each step of the handout ‘Who said daily meditation is difficult?’.
