A master student reported after 2 weeks of practicing this meditation, that he quit his long-standing habit of nail biting. He felt it was due to his improved awareness, self-control, and reduction of severe anxiety.
Following is the report from a diabetes educator who attended two of my meditation and counseling classes.
She was in her fifties and in distress due to her husband’s insensitive behavior. He was severely diabetic and refused to care for his health, despite her best support and pleading. She was afraid he might end up with serious health problems. She didn’t have the heart to divorce him, knowing he might deteriorate quickly after that. On the other hand, she was very uncomfortable living with him when he showed no concern for her discomfort. She lived with him like a doormat for many years.
After enduring this distress for many years, she felt drained and reached a breaking point. She was already seeing a counselor.
She was informally practicing ‘Meditation on breathing’ for some time, guided by the brochure. Now she wanted to intensify her practice and overcome her distress by becoming assertive with her husband.
She attended two of my classes. One week after the first class, she emailed the following:
“I think that meditation on breathing helped me face a big decision I was afraid to make. It gave me the courage to face what I didn’t want to face. I decided to move out of my home, away from my husband. I’m unsure of the future, but my heart told me that this was the right move for now. This is a very hard time in my life. I’m happy to have this meditation skill to help me through. The meditation on breathing is helping me stay calm.”

After she separated from her husband -
“I’m doing okay. Still, I use meditation on breathing techniques and do yoga. I’m feeling much better and even a sense of peace, some days.”
