Main screen upon starting the application

BalticSailors companion allows you to display information useful for sailors in the area surrounding you.You can choose which type of information to display, and the radius of the area around you that you want to display.

In this early version, only CoupsDeCoeur, Marinas and Statues are available.

Upon loading, the app check your current location and loads by default the CoupsDeCoeur in a 50 nautical miles radius around you. Once loaded, you can toggle between a map display withred markers showing location of the points of interests, or a list display showing a list of items sorted alphabetically.When selecting one of the markers or one of the list items, you are offered a choice to see the relevant information available for this location, including relevant BalticSailors website posting and access to online nautical charts for this location.

Changing the database and the distance around you

In the parameter screen, you can change the database by clicking on the Change base button, and the distance by licking on the yellow highlighted field where you enter the new value. Note that 200 nautical miles is currently the maximum allowed. Only the first three bases are currently available.

The 'Get data' button switch is use only for testing version.

Toggling between map and list

You can toggle between a map display and a list display by clicking the button at the bottom of the screen.

Accessing information about the points of interests

Both display modes are giving access to the same options to retrieve information on the web about the point of interest or to display the nautical chart for the location of the point of interest.

The resulting ouputs are shown below when clicking on Gotska Sandön.

Changing the point where to look for points of interest

By default, upon loading the app, the location of interest is set where you are currently. However, you may change this location by a 'long-click' (2 seconds) anywhere on the map. You are offered three options, to revert to your current location (if you have changed it before), to use the place where you clicked as the centre for looking for points of interests, or the use Stockholm as the starting point, for demonstration purposes.
