Rönnskär
Fäliskäret is the main island in the archipelago of Rönnskär,, West of Vaasa, another treasure recommended by a nice Finnish sailor. On Fäliskäret, there is an old wooden service pier where a few boats can moor along side. The harbour on Fälskäret was a sheltered harbour for the Kvarken pilot station from 1752 until 1983, restored by Metsähallitus, and maintained by the sailors themselves: sauna, BBQ, meeting room (for members), dry toilets, but neither electricity nor water. The concrete pier is rented by a boat club from Vasa and reserved for them as Rönnskär is the back yard of Vaasa sailors. One can moor at the service pier, but could be asked to move if the pier needs to be used for service... The navigation in the Rönnskär archipelago is in very shallow and rocky areas. The harbour is located outside of the faiways (2.4 m deep).
A lot of things to visit by feet on the island or with the dinghy to visits some of the hundreds of islands and islet hosting a very rich bird life.
The wooden beacon on the island is the oldest wooden beacon in Finland, dating from 1784.
