Motala

Motala is a very nice and busy town, sometimes overcrowded during the World Championship of Triathlon, and a lot of others cycle races. There is a very interesting Industrial Museum at the place of the old Motala Verkstad . This important factory took advantage of the Canal, and built 400 boats, 1300 locomotives, 800 bridges... There is also a Museum of the Canal, difficult to find (ask people) showing the difficulties of the project and the 58,000 soldiers digging the canal with their uniform because of the risk of war...

Manning the locks is a very popular summer job forstudents who are young and friendly.
