Prins Eugen

Pince Eugén (full name being Prince Eugen Napoleon Nicolaus of Sweden and Norway, Duke of Närke), is a famous painter yet having been the fourth in line for the throne of Sweden at the turn of the XXth century. As a painter, he became the most prominent landscape painter of his time. Of particular interest for the Baltic sailors are his paintings of clouds and of the Stockholm fjord (See the page on BalticSailors) .

Prins Eugén was trained for painting in Uppsala initially, then in Paris, notably with Pierre Puvis de Chavannes who inflenced him profoundly. Upon returning to Sweden, he became the mst prominent landscape painter, focusing on the the Mälaren, Stockholm countryside, Västergötland and Skåne.
