Viken lake

The Viken lake is the highest point in the Göta Kanal, at 91.8 metres of altitude. It represents the main reservoir of water for the canal. There are numerous shallow passages and many rocks. Walls have been built in the lake to guide the boats and for towing them. At the east side of the lake is located the Spetsnäskanalen, a short canal dug through the rock as a 3 mile shortcut on the lake.
