Mushrooms

Going in the forest for picking mushroom is a bit like going at sea. You are outdoor, trying to find your way, mindful of the environment while relaxed, active while not busy... Of course, you can make unexpected encounters such as this anthill, and the couple of ant highways deserving it. The kind of places where one should not stop in fear of being attacked by angry ants. And it happens as you can see on the picture below. Just pass your way...

In fact, picking mushroom in the forest is quite common among Swedes, and the forest, as the sea, is a place for fears, legends, witches and other tomtes. I cannot resist showing you this picture of Erik Johansson, a Swedish artist with fantastiskt illusion pictures depicting Sweden.

You can get fantastiskt harvest of mushroom in a few hours if you get in the forest at the right time! Best for most species is one to two days after a heavy rain, especially late summer when temperatures are still relatively high. Note that there are later species in the year that you will pick only in September and October.
