Ytterselö church

Ytterselö church is a medieval church on Selaön island. The original church was built already in the XII century and expanded over the following centuries .

The closest place to access the church is Stallarholmen, which has a very small guest pier just on the east of the opening bridge.

Mary, XV century

St Botvid was converted to the Christian faith while in England and returned home as a missionary. He is represented with a fish as he made some miraculous fish catches, and an axe as he was killed around 1100 by a slave he emancipated.

Mary with the infant Jesus

St Eskil was a English monk sent as a missionary bishop for the "Sweden northern forest". He was stoned to death as he tried to halt a pagan sacrifice in Strängnäs around 1080. His attributes are three stones.

By public transport

40 minutes bus ride from Läggesta station, on the way from Stockholm to Strängnäs.

By sailing boat

The closest marina is Stallarholmen, the first pier east of the opening bridge. The approach is straight forward, but the guest pier is very small, just for a handfull of boats. Full service, 175 SEK/night (August 2019) including electricty.
