Barsta

Barsta is another of the Gävle fishermen seasonal harbours along the high coast. It is an interesting stopover on the way to Ulvön and Trysunda. There are two guest piers a few miles apart, Barsta first, close to the decorated fresco, and Bönhalmn a bit further north. The Barsta and Bönhamn piers can accommodate around twenty boats each.

The church was built in 1665 by fishermen from Gävle. It is 8.5 times 7 metres. The chapell in Barsta was painted in 1699 by Roland Johansson Öberg, the same painter who painted the Ulvön chapel. The chapel is tared. It was used during winter to hang the fishing gears while not in use. More on the Barsta chapel here.
