Mässkär
Mässkär is another island that used to be a pilot station along the Finnish coast of the Bottenviken in the Kvarken area, 5 nautical milles away from Jacobstad on the main land. The pilot station and coast guard harbour is nowadays welcoming sailors cruising these waters. The landscape with its old houses is very picturesque.

In the centre of the northern part off the island, there are remains of the old fishermen village, with ruins of huts that are now several metres above the sea level.
