Vinga/Söö
Vinga is a very small island at the southwestern tip of the Göteborg archipelago, 10 miles off the coast west of Göteborg. It used to be the pilot station for boat arriving to and departing from Göteborg and a wheather station.
The current lighthouse was built in 1890 and soon became an iconic symbol for the city of Göteborg. The same year was born the poet and Singer Ever Taube, son of Carl Gunnar Taube, a ship's captain who was the lighthouse keeper. He spent his childhood on the island.
The lighthouse and the island are a touristic attraction and the tiny harbour can be quickly overcrowded in the summer. The island is definitively worth a visit for the museum, the lighthouse, its mineral landscape.
If Vinga is overcrowded, the harbour in Söö can be used. This is a new guest harbour. Beware of the shallows in the entrance of the harbour.
Alternatively, the fishing harbour on the east of the island remains a possibility.
