Forsvik

The lock in Forsvik was the first bult in 1813 and is the largest along the canal and the one with the most important water level difference in the Göta canal (3.5 metres). In the 1400s' the water power was used operate a mill and then a sawmill that employed up to 360 staff. Then they built a factory for iron, a shipyard, a paper factory, smelting works for tubes and street lamps... Work ended in 1990 but now are well preserved as an interesting museum. The iron bridge was the first built in Sweden, now replaced. In 1866, an outbreak of cholera struck the town and killed at least 35 inhabitants.

The wall is very rough: fenders + wood.

Nice cottage!

Very nice walk to Lake Viken

The Museum seem to be alive, as if workers were gone just for a Fika!
