Karlsborg

Karlsborg, on the west side of Vattern Lake, is unforgettable, and belongs to the history of Sweden, but in a particular way. The Karlsborg fortress was built in 1819, far from Stockholm as a reserve capiatl for Sweden in case of War, in order to become a safe hold for the King, the national treasure (gold), the administrations and the army. It took 90 years to build the fortress, but it was never used...

Getting there

The Karlsborg marina has 15 berths alongside on each side of the lock and bridge. An additional 20 berths with stern buoys are available on the south west shore of the islet.
