Ankarudden

Ankarudden is a very scenic little harbour with connection to Landsort on Öja island.

The harbour is very well sheltered. Mooring is done along side the pier, on the west side, while keeping free the spot for the ferry and for the pilot boat. There is no fee but no service. It is however a very pleasant stop just befopre entering or quitting the Stockholm archipelago, along the fairway. Alternatively, the bay is a very good anchorage (ankarudden!) used along the centuries as shelter by crown ships and other vessels during storms.

Ankarudden is mentioned in pilot documents from the XIIIth century.

Ankarudden was originally a manor, but was burnt in 1719 during the Russian invasion. The Dutch mill was built in 1857 and remained in activity until 1925.

By boat

The entrance to the harbour is well marked, of the fairway, but is quite narrow. Watch for the pilot boats, which tend to run fast, as well as for the ferry to Landsort. No fees, no services.
