Malören

At the peak of activity in the XVIII century, 200 people were living on Malören during the summer. The Chapel was built in 1768 and was soon called the cathedral of the archipelago. A pilot station was established on Malören in 1827. Rails were running from south to north on the island to be able to change the launching site for the pilot boats. A concrete habour was biult in 1950's but was abandonned because of the erosion.

The small harbour on the northeast can accomodate boats up to two metre draft. Boats with a draft up to 1.2 m can access the south harbour, entering between the marked leading lines. The harbour is well protected from all winds but cannot be entered or leaved during southernly gales.
