The following information will help you to connect to your hosted applications in our cloud.
You will need to download and install the Vista rich client before attempting to connect to Vista in our cloud using VRL. If you already have the Vista rich client installed, you will need to uninstall your old version of Vista completely prior to installing the one for our cloud.
NOTE: prior versions of Vista’s server are NOT compatible with the newer Vista clients (6.19 and higher).
As such, any workstation on which you install the newer version of Vista will be unable to communicate with any existing on-premise Vista server. We recommend that you test your new cloud environment using a new, dedicated workstation or virtual machine intended only for testing your new cloud environment. This way, you do not create any conflicts with your existing production on-premise Vista install.
This the is the preferred method to download and install the Vista Rich Client to enable VRL:
Go to one of the following links to download the Vista rich client:
Vista 2023r2: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1JBRFO5tmkh-MQ4Vf-jxsXljjVW5AvdQn/view?usp=sharing
Comes as a ZIP file with the MSI and all pre-requisites. Please unzip to get to the actual MSI and EXE installers.
Vista 2023r1: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1C0vvOYcUuT7m7rMyZjZcP7954gT1VArU/view?usp=sharing
Comes as a ZIP file with the MSI and all pre-requisites. Please unzip to get to the actual MSI and EXE installers.
Vista 2022R2: https://drive.google.com/file/d/13NWNdiL30t-Y96jrPz7ttZ2zcz784C8P/view?usp=sharing
Comes as a ZIP file with the MSI and all pre-requisites. Please unzip to get to the actual MSI and EXE installers.
Unzip the ZIP file.
Install ALL NEEDED Dependencies: Crystal Reports 2016 (64 bit preferred), .NET 4.8, etc.
CRITICAL NOTE: Crystal and .NET Dependencies WILL Require local workstation admin rights to install.
Install the Vista client itself only after the Crystal Reports MSI and .NET MSI are installed.
This backup method is available to download the rich client, in case the above direct link does not work, or is not updated to point to the latest version of Vista:
Go to our download page for the current version of Vista. This is located at https://support.viewpoint.com.
Click on the downloads area and then click on Vista
Then click on the link for the .00 initial release of the current version of Vista.
E.g. Vista 6.19 would be listed as Vista 6.19.00.
Browse through the folder and locate the .MSI file for the Vista client. This should be about 300mb in size.
Download the MSI file and all 64-bit prerequisites.
Install the prerequisites.
Double click on the downloaded Vista client installer file in your File Explorer, or merely click on the Vista installer file shown at the bottom of your web browser
Click the Next button several times to proceed through the install wizard.
Once the wizard is complete, Vista should be installed.
Once Vista is installed, you can open it and use the URL listed below, modified with your company code (“xxxx” corresponds to the company code you were issued), to connect to Vista.
TC1 / VP1 VRL Server URL (VRL Users ONLY): https://xxxx-vrl.viewpointforcloud.com
1. When a user starts the newly installed Vista client for the first time, the user will see a screen similar to the following:
2. Click the plus sign next to the server name field
2. Paste in the server URL above (modified with your company code)
NOTE: Do not enter the word, "CODE". CODE should be replaced with the 4-5 character alphanumeric code uniquely assigned to you in our cloud; each customer has their own codename. E.g. Joe's Plumbing might have the unique code of 9KOG, so the URL above should be: https://9kog-vrl.viewpointforcloud.com
3. Click the green checkmark to validate the server name and add it to the list.
Vista login steps and procedures have been moved to a new set of articles. Please see the following FAQ articles for more information on how to log in to Vista once installed and configured. If you do not know which method you currently use, please reach out to your IT administrator or Viewpoint technical contact.
