Support Status: Supported
Integration Method: ODBC Direct to Vista Database
Connection Method: TLS Database Endpoint (TLS VPN) (PREFERRED) or IPSEC VPN
Viewpoint Hosted: NO
Additional Charge: NO - TLS Database Endpoint (TLS VPN) / YES - IPSEC VPN
Description:
As per many other server-side integrations to third-party products, this product is designed to talk to Vista's database directly using ODBC. This connection requires that the Vista server be "visible" to the third party system. To ensure that the two systems can communicate, we set up a network level connection between our cloud and either the vendor's cloud or the customer environment. This takes the form of either a TLS Database Endpoint (TLS VPN) (PREFERRED) or an IPSEC VPN tunnel.
Deployment Methodology:
We do not support hosting of this product in our cloud. As such, the customer must continue to host the actual program (i.e. "bits") in an external location. As a result, since this product and Vista will be on separate networks, a connection is needed to bridge the gap between the two networks.
Detailed Instructions:
Stand up an IPSEC VPN or TLS Database Endpoint (TLS VPN) between:
The vendor's cloud and our cloud instance (PREFERRED) OR
The customer's environment where the data connector bits will be installed.
Stand up a TLS Database Endpoint (TLS VPN) between customer's hosting location of third party product and the Vista environment in our cloud.
Create SQL account to allow third-party to authenticate to Vista: I need a dedicated SQL account for my integration to Vista in your cloud. How do I set that up?
Configure the third-party solution to talk to the IP address of the new Vista server in our cloud.
tl;dr: Labor Chart is a supported product for integration to Vista customers hosted in Viewpoint's cloud. Customers who need to integrate this product with Vista in our cloud need to either request a TLS Database Endpoint (TLS VPN) or purchase an IPSEC VPN. Once configured and in place, we stand up a SQL account to allow this solution to communicate to Vista and then configure this product to point to the new IP address of Vista in the cloud.
