Managing and maintaining a robust construction ERP system like Viewpoint's Vista is a multi-faceted process that can be complex for our on-premise customers. Adding in security concerns on top of management tasks for on-premise customer just increases the complexity. This level of effort needed to manage and maintain a full, on-premise ERP is one of the reasons why the Viewpoint One SaaS product has been so successful. By combining industry-leading solutions into a cohesive offering, and removing the burden of hosting Vista from our customers, Viewpoint One provides a powerful set of value for our customers.
As part of the process of moving to Viewpoint's cloud from on-premise use of Vista, customers often ask about the roles and distribution of responsibilities for those who are hosted in our cloud: who is responsible for what when a customer is hosted in our cloud?
Read on for some answers.
Overall, the responsibilities for customers who have purchased Viewpoint One are much lighter than those who use Vista as a standalone product, on-premise. When a customer uses Viewpoint One, Viewpoint is responsible for all infrastructure hardware and software management for Vista and associated Viewpoint products. In addition, ensuring on-going security and access to those products is Viewpoint's responsibility. Certain items still remain the purview of the customer however, including the creation and maintenance of customizations for Vista and / or other Viewpoint tools. In addition, though some aspects of connectivity to the Viewpoint cloud environment are a joint responsibility between the customer and Viewpoint, ensuring the proper connection of third party applications to Vista in the cloud is the responsibility of the customer and/or third party vendor.

(2) Viewpoint can provide general, best practice guidance on connecting these tools to Vista in our cloud, but specific troubleshooting must by done by the customer or vendor as needed.
