Are there any special considerations with regard to Crystal Reports and your cloud? Can I use all of my same reports?

Let's answer the second question first: Yes! You are certainly able to use all of the same Crystal Reports in our cloud that you used on-premise. Whether those are custom Crystal Reports or included / out of the box reports, we support using Crystal Reports in our cloud.

HOWEVER, and here is where things can get a little more complex: some Crystal Reports may need adjustment before they will be able to function properly in our cloud. Let's get into this a little further.

Crystal Reports are highly customizable and very flexible in terms of the data that they gather, and the queries that they use. This can be highly advantageous, but can also cause issues when pointing them to a new server.

Here are some of the things that we recommend you investigate as potential areas to address:

    • Data Connection Method: Please make certain that all of your reports are written to use the RDO (Remote Data Objects) data method. ADO is NOT supported when using Vista Remote Link (VRL), which is the means by which our Vista cloud is experienced.

    • Hard coded IPs and DNS Names: Please make certain that your reports do not point directly to the IP address of your on-premise Vista server; this will be different in the cloud.
