Description
As per many other server-side integrations, this product is designed to use a hosted data connector (a.k.a. a shim) that speaks to the Vista database directly using ODBC and then itself connects to our Ryvit cloud data warehouse.
In this case, the customer is connecting cloud-hosted Vista to our Ryvit cloud directly. This is done by installing the Ryvit shim connector in the customer's Trimble Viewpoint cloud environment.
Option A - Viewpoint Hosted
If the Ryvit connector is hosted by Trimble Viewpoint, no VPN or TLS Database Endpoint (TLS VPN) is needed. If hosted in our cloud, this shim connector will be installed on the Trimble Viewpoint integrations server in the customer's single tenant environment, usually the "D2" box; it cannot be installed on the Vista server itself as SOC compliance requirements enforce restrictions on what components may be installed on the Vista machines (limited to Vista only). If we were to do otherwise, we would put our SOC compliance status at risk.
NOTE: Fortunately, now that Ryvit is a Trimble Viewpoint solution, it CAN be installed on the same server that houses our own Trimble integrations, such as HFF and Team connector. Due to this new process, we no longer need to pass on costs for an additional server to the customer.
Steps to Set Up:
Customer - If this process is not already underway, please submit a cloud support case to request the installation of the Data XChange (Ryvit) agent on your cloud "D2" box. Note: The hosting of this agent will be free of charge if you are a ViewpointOne or Trimble Construction One (TC1) customer.
Trimble Viewpoint - Coordinate with Ryvit team to install agent on D2 box
Trimble Viewpoint - Set up SQL Service Account for Ryvit use and share with Ryvit Team
NOTE: The customer may also choose to create that account using the instructions at the following FAQ: I need a dedicated SQL account for my integration to Vista in your cloud. How do I set that up?
Trimble Ryvit - Configure Ryvit agent and test
Option B - Externally Hosted - Legacy ONLY
If the Ryvit connector is hosted in an external network (e.g. the customer's network), it will then talk to the Vista database over the TLS Database Endpoint (TLS VPN) or IPSEC VPN to our Viewpoint cloud. Prior to Trimble acquiring Ryvit, the data connector could be hosted at a customer's on-premise environment. If your copy of Ryvit's agent is located on your own network, and you are a TC1 contracted cloud customer, you are able to have the agent moved to our cloud instead. Please reach out to your sales rep, enterprise solutions architect, or cloud support rep for more details.
tl;dr: Customers who need to integrate Ryvit's Cloud with Vista in our cloud need to either host the Ryvit data connector in our Trimble Viewpoint cloud, or certain legacy customers are already hosting it externally from Viewpoint's cloud, connected over the TLS Database Endpoint (TLS VPN) or the IPSEC VPN. If hosted in our cloud, we no longer require the purchase of an additional add-on “Standard Server”, as the Ryvit solution is part of the Trimble family now and may be installed on the customer's D2 box.
IMPORTANT NOTE
DataXchange (Ryvit) Supports MANY MORE Additional Integrations Than are Listed on this Site
Ryvit (a.k.a. DataXchange) supports many more integrations to Vista, Spectrum, and ProContractor than are listed on this site, which focuses on integrations that DIRECTLY speak to an ERP.
The following section shows a selection of integrations that speak to our ERPs through DataXchange.
