As per many other client-side productivity apps, these tools operate in the same environment as Vista, and can tangentially integrate into Vista. These tools do not, however, touch the Vista database itself. In the RDP-based deployment methods of Viewpoint Vista cloud hosting (e.g. RDP VEC or Viewpoint for Cloud (VFC)), Viewpoint DOES host THESE client-side apps. As such, the customer will need to coordinate with Viewpoint to host these apps with us. There is a $49/month charge to host a client side app other than SSMS, Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, GSS, or any Viewpoint solution.
In the newer Viewpoint One (VP1) / VRL Cloud model, customers host these applications on their local hardware.
tl;dr: Customers using Vista within one of Viewpoint's RDP-based clouds (i.e. VFC and RDP VEC) DO need to host client-side apps that relate to Vista with us. There is a charge for hosting these apps, save for SSMS and SSRS Report Builder. VP1/VRL Cloud customers host these applications themselves.
