Cascade Portal: Editing User Details
Updating a User's Info
Author: Eric Vasbinder
Applicable ERPs:
Vista
Overview
The Cascade portal is used in our Trimble Viewpoint Vista ERP clouds for several key workflows:
Managing user logins for users who use our older RDP-based clouds, such as Viewpoint For Cloud (VFC) and Viewpoint Enterprise Cloud (VEC) RDP
Managing the user login names for users of Vista Remote Link (VRL) who are NOT using SSO
Managing Group membership for access to file shares such as the Viewpoint Repository and/or ADP
Given that, it is possible that your organization may need to edit the details for a user, such as their Display Name, First Name, Last Name, or phone number.
As such, it is important for anyone with admin rights in the Cascade portal to understand how to edit user information in Cascade. Please read on for detailed instructions on how to edit a user's details in the Cascade Portal.
IMPORTANT
If you use VRL to access Vista and use SSO for logins, AND you do NOT need access to the Viewpoint Repository folder or any other file share for on the Vista server, then you will likely NOT use Cascade and thus this article may not apply to you. Please reach out to Trimble Viewpoint support or your local IT if you have any doubt.
Editing a User
Browse to https://cascade.viewpoint.cloud and then log in.
Once logged in you will see your main Cascade home screen, which should be the "User Management" tab, showing the users in the local AD in your Viewpoint cloud environment.
Please locate the user you wish to delete and then click the pencil icon on the row for that user.
Figure 1: Login to Cascade and click the pencil for the user you wish to edit.
4. You will then need to update the fields that need to be changed. Please do so on the following screen.
Figure 2: Edit Users Screen - Update chosen fields (NOT USER NAME)
NOTE: As you can see above, the "User Name" field CANNOT be edited. However, ALL other fields may be edited, including "Display Name", "First Name", "Last Name", and "Phone No.".
5. Click "Update User" button to update the user's information.
IMPORTANT
Please note that the user name field itself CANNOT be updated once the user has been created. Instead if you need to update the user's actual username, you will need to create a new user with the appropriate username, then enlist the help of our cloud support team to copy any user data in the terminal server from the old user account to the new one.
