Description:

As other server-side Vista integrations, many custom-built systems (e.g. reporting solutions, etc.) are designed to talk to Vista's database directly using things like ODBC. This connection requires that the Vista server be "visible" to the third party system. To ensure that the two systems can communicate, we set up a server to server IPSEC VPN between our cloud and the customer environment.

IMPORTANT

Once approved, your application will not be listed on this public-facing FAQ site. CRITICAL NOTE:

Bespoke applications are ONLY approved for connectivity to the customer's specific single tenant environments (e.g. production and test). These solutions must be hosted externally to Viewpoint's cloud, connected over the IPSEC VPN tunnel to a customer network. Additional security approvals may be required at any time.

Viewpoint is not to be held responsible in the event of environmental security or stability issues caused by the connection of such a solution to the customer's cloud single tenant environment.

tl;dr: Customers who need to integrate their custom-built system to Vista in our cloud need to request approval for this application AND purchase an IPSEC VPN if not already on contract. The custom system will continue to be hosted on-premise.
