Description:
As per many other client-side apps that can relate to Vista, Kofax's Power PDF does not directly touch the Vista database. It is used for viewing and editing PDF attachments for Vista: either prior to or after being added to Vista's document management system.
For customers that access Vista using RDP Terminal services in our cloud, Viewpoint needs to host this application on those terminal servers to provide for an efficient workflow. This holds most true for our Desktop as a Server (DaaS) environment, known as Viewpoint for Cloud (VFC).
For customers of our newest cloud hosting solution, Viewpoint One, where Vista Remote Link (VRL) is used as the primary method to connect Vista to the database, client-side apps are located on end users' workstations, not hosted in Viewpoint's cloud environments.
tl;dr: First, determine which generation of Viewpoint Vista cloud hosting you are hosted within. If you are on Generations 2 and 3 (VFC and VEC RDP), Viewpoint should host Power PDF for you for a small additional management fee. If you are on our Generation 4 hosting (Viewpoint One, a.k.a. VRL Cloud), Viewpoint will not host this application for you, as there is no need to do so; all client-side apps reside on end user workstations.
