As you may have read previously in this FAQ and other places, Trimble no longer supports hosting third party integrations. Our preferred approach is to have third party integrations talk to Vista using either pre-built connectors available in the Trimble marketplace, OR to have the third party vendors rewrite their integrations to leverage our powerful, robust AppXchange Vista API, which has a wide range of REST API endpoints to use. See this other article for more information on APIs: Does Vista in the Cloud Use APIs?
However, if neither of those options is available, you may also have the third-party solution (including data connector services, a.k.a. "shims") installed in an external location, such as the vendor's own cloud, the customer network, etc. We then use an IPSEC VPN tunnel or a TLS Database Endpoint (TLS VPN) to connect the two networks together; to "bridge the gap".
Historically, we used to host a number of third-party integrations. Though that is still true today for our older cloud, Viewpoint for Cloud (VFC), please note that VFC is no longer available for new customers. As of today, in our current cloud environment, Trimble Construction One (TC1) / Viewpoint One (VP1), we no longer support physically hosting third party integrations in our cloud.
Third party integrations have NOT been supported for physical hosting in our cloud for over two years as of October, 2025. If your integration is already "grandfathered" in and is currently being hosted, you are allowed to keep hosting it with us for now. Longer term, however, we recommend switching to modern integration methods, and/or moving the integration to an external system.
IMPORTANT
You may still connect an approved third party integration over either the TLS Database Endpoint (TLS VPN) or an IPSEC VPN, however, the physical installation software ("the bits") must be installed outside of the Viewpoint cloud.
All of that above notwithstanding, there remain a few integrations that Viewpoint still will physically host in our cloud when necessary. An example of this type of integration is our own AppXchange Agent, formerly Ryvit, which is hosted physically in our cloud as it is a Trimble product.
A few SSIS packages and items like the CozyRoc SFTP plugin may be hosted in our cloud, but those have specific use cases and requirements for use.
tl;dr: No third party integrations may be hosted in our cloud. This includes executable software, agents, shims, etc. Only approved, supported Trimble code or SSIS packages are allowed to be hosted or connected to our cloud. We cannot host any third party software on our Vista / Viewpoint servers in the cloud. As such, for integrations that cannot work over a Marketplace connector or the Vista AppXchange API, make sure you have a TLS Database Endpoint (TLS VPN) or IPSEC VPN stood up and have your third party integration hosted externally, connected over one of those two methods.
TO CHECK TO SEE IF THE INTEGRATION YOU DESIRE IS SUPPORTED FOR HOSTING IN THE VIEWPOINT CLOUD STILL, PLEASE SEARCH FOR THE INTEGRATION ON THIS SITE. THE PAGE FOR THE INTEGRATION IN QUESTION WILL SAY IF HOSTING OF THAT INTEGRATION IN VIEWPOINT'S CLOUD IS STILL SUPPORTED.
changelog

Updated to show that third party code has NOT been supported for hosting for over two years.
Wednesday, 20 July 2022 at 04:32PM:
updated to add note that one should check the integration's page on this FAQ site to see if the integration is supported for actual hosting in our cloud, vs. supported for connecting, but the actual bits being stored and hosted externally from the VP cloud.
Tuesday, 19 April 2022 at 06:26PM
Significant rewrite to accommodate our current strategy of prohibiting hosting of third party products in our cloud; they must be hosted externally.
