There are a number of actions that you can perform ahead of time to get your environment as ready as possible for your move to the cloud. Ideally, these actions should be performed prior to your cloud transformation process beginning in earnest.
As your users accounts will be converted from on-premise to cloud user accounts, to Vista's filtering systems, these will be "new" accounts. As such, form filters that you may have had set up on-premise will cause issues with forms opening when moving into the cloud. As such, to avoid complexity and confusion when moving into the cloud we recommend that all users remove all form filters from any form where they might be present.
Many customers have custom reports in Vista or SSRS that were created years ago and are no longer in use. Migrating and troubleshooting unused reports can be an unproductive process for all involved. As such, now is a good time to take an inventory of all your custom reports to ask these questions:
Are the reports in question still used?
Can Vista's built-in reports take the place of a custom report with no differences from the canned report?
If the answer to these questions is "No" for any report, we recommend deleting the custom report and, if necessary, pointing your users to a built-in report instead.
There are a few things that can be done to update custom Crystal Reports to be more cloud-friendly. Please see the following cloud FAQ article for specific details on how to update Crystal Reports to be more cloud friendly. Converting Crystal Reports to Work in the Cloud
Paging is a powerful tool to ensure the performance and responsiveness of the Vista rich client over a connection that may be thousands of miles away from the database in the cloud. We highly recommend turning on paging prior to your cloud move, with a maximum record size of 50 records per page, so as to familiarize your users with the use of Vista forms with Paging turned on.
This way, once you have moved to the cloud, your users will be able to more seamlessly adjust. In addition, as a side benefit, you may find your on-premise form loads and data entry performance increased.
The following link will show how to turn on paging, which must be done on a per user per form basis: Enabling Vista Paging
