Description:
As per many other server-side integrations to third-party products, this product is designed to speak to the Vista database directly using ODBC, with connectivity provided over a VPN or TLS Database Endpoint (TLS VPN) to the vendor's cloud.
Specifically how this integration is implemented depends on how the third party products is deployed: in the third-party's cloud, or on-premise at the customer site.
FieldConnect Cloud (MOST COMMON): In this case, the customer is connecting cloud-hosted Vista to the third-party's cloud directly. This is done by creating a support ticket with Trimble Viewpoint to have the vendor's team set up either a TLS Database Endpoint (TLS VPN) or an IPSEC VPN directly to the customer's Trimble Viewpoint ERP Cloud single tenant environment. A corresponding support case should also be set up with the vendor.
FieldConnect On-Premise (UNCOMMON): In this case, the customer should themselves set up an IPSEC VPN or TLS Database Endpoint (TLS VPN) connection with Trimble Viewpoint to allow for their locally hosted FieldConnect installation to see the Vista cloud-hosted database server.
tl;dr: Customers who need to integrate FieldConnect Cloud with Vista in our cloud need to submit a support case to have the Trimble Viewpoint team coordinate a connectivity option with the vendor: either a TLS Database Endpoint (TLS VPN) or an IPSEC VPN. A corresponding support case should also be created by the customer with the vendor to the same effect.
