Viewpoint's Vista Cloud is compatible with multiple types of SSRS Reports and Dashboards. However, there are a few specific report settings that need to be changed in order to ensure that custom reports will work properly in our cloud:
All SSRS Reports need to have their data source names (DSNs) re-pointed to the Vista server in the cloud so they can connect to the Vista database.
Any SSRS reports that use Data Type Security should be evaluated to determine if Data Type Security is absolutely necessary for their use. Please note that using Data Type security in SSRS in our cloud or with VRL overall, even on-premise, is difficult since VRL does not support Data Type Security over SSRS.
If you use the HFF (Keystyle) SSRS Report Repository, please make a note of that and inform your transformations leadership team. This is because the HFF SSRS repository is not compatible with the "Custom Security" extension to SSRS, which is required by VRL. Our team will need to set up a second SSRS instance if you absolutely need this Keystyle SSRS repository to continue to function in our cloud.
NOTE: If you are currently on SQL 2017 or higher, this workaround to use two SSRS instances will not be possible; Microsoft has removed the ability to use two SSRS instances with a single SQL server in SQL 2017 and above.
