Until early 2022, Viewpoint used a method for cloud user login that leveraged a third-party middleware known as CloudWorkspace. Customer admins would create user accounts in CloudWorkspace, which would then enable our cloud's internal Active Directory (AD) to then provide accounts for Vista for login. With the advent of first Viewpoint ID SSO and now Trimble ID SSO, the legacy CloudWorkspace method is no longer the primary method for user authentication in our cloud. For more information on setting up and logging in via Trimble ID SSO, please see this cloud FAQ article: The Three Steps to SSO Joy - Setting up Trimble ID SSO
Even so, there are a large number of customers in our cloud who still do leverage the legacy CloudWorkspace (formerly CloudJumper or CJ for short) method to log in to Vista in our cloud. These customers will slowly transition to Trimble ID SSO over time but, for now, the following series of steps will be beneficial in describing how one may log in to Vista in our cloud using the legacy CJ method.
IMPORTANT
Logging in to Vista ALWAYS requires that you have downloaded and installed the Vista rich client and then configured it to point to the proper server name in our cloud. This MUST be done PRIOR to attempting to login.
Please see this cloud FAQ article for instructions on how to download and install and configure the Vista rich client to connect to your cloud Vista server:
To log in to Vista using this legacy method, you will need to follow the next set of sub-steps:
Enter your username in the form of VIEWPOINT\username.CODE into Vista.
Click the Login button.
A much more detailed series of steps and screenshots follows below.
COMPANY CODE: XXXX
VRL Cloud Server URL (VEC-VRL / for VRL Users ONLY): https://CODE-vrl.viewpointforcloud.com
Username: VIEWPOINT\primary_username.CODE
The references to “XXXX”, "CODE", or COMPANYCODE pertain to your randomly generated Azure company code. Everybody will need this appended to their username for access.
The domain reference "VIEWPOINT\" is also required to sync with Viewpoint’s internal user directory.
Login Steps:
Put in your username previously given (NOTE: in the form of VIEWPOINT\username.CODE)
NOTE: EVEN FOR SSO-USING CUSTOMERS, USING THE LEGACY METHOD MAY BE NECESSARY FOR YOUR INITIAL LOGIN. THIS IS SO THAT USERS FROM VISTA MAY BE "PUSHED" INTO TRIMBLE ID SSO FROM VISTA. SEE HERE FOR MORE DETAILS: The Three Steps to SSO Joy - Setting up Trimble ID SSO - Vista ...
As this is a VRL install, please make sure "Use Windows Login" is unchecked.
Enter your password as assigned
NOTE: If you have forgotten your password, please go here to reset your link: https://viewpoint.partner.manage.cloudworkspace.com/forgot-password
Your Vista rich client will then likely restart several times as it completes a self-update process to ensure you are on the very latest version of Vista.
Please re-login after the upgrades are complete.
NOTE: Do not enter the word, "CODE". CODE should be replaced with the 4-5 character alphanumeric code uniquely assigned to you in our cloud; each customer has their own codename. E.g. Joe Ashton from Joe's Plumbing might have the unique code of 9KOG, so Joe would log in to VRL Vista with the username of: VIEWPOINT\jashton.9kog
NOTE: There is an 11 character limit to usernames in our cloud due to limitations of the middleware. As such, you may need to log in to your cloud management portal and change the username to shrink it down to 11 characters or less, then create a new user in Vista with the same name.CODE
* NOTE: Your company code is visible in your online cloud management portal at: https://viewpoint.partner.manage.cloudworkspace.com
Any user who needs access to the cloud when you've started using VRL will need to have their Vista account enabled for VRL access.
Please see the following Vista Cloud FAQ URL for more details: https://sites.google.com/trimble.com/vista-cloud-faq/home/operations/enable-user-vrl-access
