Devices in the Esevel platform are classified based on whether they are linked to JumpCloud (JC), which enables centralized IT management:
Managed Devices
Devices listed under the "Managed" tab should be carefully curated by an organization's admin to be under the active management of our third-party provider, JumpCloud. These devices necessitate regular updates, configurations, and security measures to ensure data integrity.
With Managed Devices, an organization's admin can confidently oversee and optimise the performance of this essential subset of devices.
Unmanaged Devices
Devices categorized as "Unmanaged" encompass a different subset of devices that do not require active device management. These devices may serve specific purposes, such as supplementary tools or peripherals, and do not require regular maintenance or software updates. Unmanaged Devices offer greater flexibility and autonomy to employees, allowing them to tailor the devices according to their needs while enjoying the freedom to explore various configurations.
Managed Devices
This feature is available for the Secure and Complete Plan
Enhanced Security: With dedicated device management, admins can enforce robust security protocols and access controls, safeguarding sensitive information and reducing potential vulnerabilities.
Streamlined Updates and Maintenance: Managed Devices receive regular updates and maintenance, minimising downtime and ensuring optimal performance for users.
Centralised Control: Admins have centralised control over Managed Devices, simplifying the process of deploying software, tracking assets, and managing user access.
Compliance and Accountability: For industries with strict regulatory requirements, Managed Devices facilitate compliance efforts and enhance accountability for device usage.
Unmanaged Devices
User Autonomy: Unmanaged Devices grant users the freedom to personalise their devices and configurations based on their preferences and tasks.
Resource Allocation: By designating devices as Unmanaged, admins can allocate their time and efforts more efficiently, focusing on the critical tasks associated with Managed Devices.
Versatility: Unmanaged Devices can serve as auxiliary tools, peripherals, or experimental devices, catering to an organisation's various requirements without impacting core device management.
On the Esevel platform, devices can be switched between Managed and Unmanaged by updating their configurations to the question 'Do you want device to be managed?'. Yes constitutes a managed device and No constitutes an unmanaged device.
For Managed Devices, an email will be sent to its owner informing about the agent download required for device management to take place. Once the agent is installed, the device becomes monitored.
For Secure and Complete Plan: Each employee can have up to 3 devices tagged as Managed.
For Support & Free Plan: Each employee only can have 1 devices/employee.
