JumpCloud Password Manager Desktop App Overview

JumpCloud Password Manager Desktop App is a fully-featured password manager seamlessly integrated within the JumpCloud ecosystem. It enables end‑users to securely store, manage, and share sensitive information, such as passwords, 2FA tokens, payment cards, secure notes, and ID cards while offering admins visibility and control without relying on third-party tools.

Supported Operating Systems

• macOS
  Big Sur (11.x), Monterey (12.x), Ventura (13.x), Sonoma (14.x), Sequoia (15.x)

• Windows
  Version 10 (64-bit), Windows 11 (64-bit)

• Linux

Supported via Debian and RPM builds (AppImage no longer supported). Auto‑updates available for         Debian/RPM builds. ARM architecture (e.g., Apple M-series) not supported on Linux.

Architecture & Data Storage

• Decentralized & Secure Storage
  JumpCloud uses a hybrid decentralized architecture— secrets are stored locally on devices and synced across via end‑to‑end encryption. No master password is needed, reducing attack risks.

• Backups
  The app automatically generates encrypted local backups. Users should store backup files safely (e.g., in cloud storage or external drives). In case of device loss, data can be restored from these backups or via .csv exports.

• Search & Navigation

1. Search existing items via search bar.

2. Large storage capacity: up to 13,000 items with autofill, or 30,000 without autofill.

• Password History
  Click the clock icon next to a password to see past versions and restore if needed.

• Folders

  1. Personal Folders: Visible only to you.

  2. Shared Folders: Shared securely with users/groups. Permissions include Folder Member, Manager, and Item Manager. Folder syncing may require users to be online or up-to‑date.

• Archived Items
  Deleted items go into Archived until restored or permanently deleted. Only Folder Managers can recover shared items.

• Security Dashboard
  This section displays your security score and has all your existing items. Sort the items based on available filters such as Weak, Reused, and Old.
