How to Install and Activate BitDefender Antivirus on a MacOS

How to install and activate 

A simple guide to install and activate BitDefender antivirus to MacOS Laptops.

Bitdefender Installation

1. Bitdefender will be automatically installed to your laptop through your company Jumpcloud Server. This will require user intervention to successfull install the Bitdefender to your machine.

2. A prompt notification will appear at the upper right of your screen that the Bitdefender is now currently installing

3. Click the notification or wait for a few minutes and a System Extension Block notification will pop up to your screen.

4. Click Open System Settings and Privacy and Security window will pop up. Under Privacy and Security, Click "Allow" to proceed the installation. 

5. The installation will run in the background and a Proxy Configuration notification will pop up in the screen.  Click "Allow".

6. Once installation is done. Bitdefender icon will appear at the upper right screen.

7.  Enable the Full Disk Access for Bitdefender, go to System Settings > Privacy & Security > Full Disk Access then enable access for BDLDaemon and EndpointSecurityforMac.

8. Once done, Open Bitdefender to check the security status of your device. Go to Finder > Applications > Endpoint Security for Mac.

9. If any of the criterias are "Off" and the status is At Risk, Click "More details" to check and update your security settings.

10. Once update is done, Bitdefender window status should be "Safe" thus the installation and setup is done.

If Bitdefender installation is not applicable through JumpCloud Server. Here are the guidelines for manual installation.

1. Click and download this file: HERE

2. A pop-up window will appear asking confirmation to download from the site, click Allow.

3. Wait for the download to complete then go to Downloads folder.

4. Double click dmg file. Under Location Tab, Endpoint for Mac folder will appear. Click the folder to see the contents.

5. Double click antivirus_for_mac_arm.pkg and press "Allow" to proceed with the installation setup.

6. On the Introduction Tab, Click continue.

7. Select the destination folder and click Install.

8. A prompt will appear asking you to input your local admin account. Enter the admin credentials and click Install Software.

9. System Extension Block notification will pop up to your screen.

10. Click Open System Settings and Privacy and Security window will pop up. Under Privacy and Security, Click "Allow" to proceed the installation. 

11. The installation will run in the background and a Proxy Configuration notification will pop up in the screen.  Click "Allow".

12.  Once installation setup is finish, Click Close.

13.  Enable the Full Disk Access for Bitdefender, go to System Settings > Privacy & Security > Full Disk Access then enable access for BDLDaemon and EndpointSecurityforMac.

14. Once done, Open Bitdefender to check the security status of your device. Go to Finder > Applications > Endpoint Security for Mac.
