FISHBONE CACTUS
(Disocactus Anguliger )
The fishbone cactus is a small, shrubby succulent plant from the Cactaceae family (cactus family). Known by the scientific name Disocactus anguliger, this plant is native to dry tropical biomes with a distribution ranging from southwestern and central Mexico (to Hidalgo). In English, this plant is known as the fishbone cactus. The scientific name Disocactus anguliger was first published by botanist Charles Antoine Lemaire in 2016.
It grows in tropical and subtropical climates, requiring full sunlight (6 hours or more), moderate soil moisture, moist, well-drained soil, and a temperature of 16ºC.
The stem is formed from hardened and reduced leaf blades where the shape of the parent stem is cylindrical. The stem height can reach 2-3 meters, while the leaves range from 13-15 cm.
The leaves themselves are flat and green in color with smooth leaf surfaces without thorns, unlike other cacti. Each edge of the leaf has indentations which usually grow leaf and flower buds.
The flower diameter is 10 cm, white and only blooms at night.
The shape of the fruit is round red and has black seeds. Breeding is usually done by cutting or seeds.
Propagation is usually done by cutting or seeds.
