Starfruit is native to Indonesia (the Maluku Islands), India, and Sri Lanka, and is also widely found in Southeast Asia, the Dominican Republic, Brazil, Peru, Ghana, Guyana, Tonga, and Polynesia. It is grown commercially in the United States, particularly in South Florida and Hawaii, due to its numerous health benefits. The fruit is commonly used as a sour flavor enhancer in cooking. Furthermore, starfruit has medicinal properties in traditional medicine.
This plant grows in lowlands up to 500 meters above sea level. It prefers unshaded, fairly humid locations.
The stem is wavy and uneven.
The compound leaves are 30-60 cm long with 11-45 pairs of leaflets, green, with short stalks, and are ovate to oblong in shape with slightly pointed tips and a rounded base.
The flowers are compound, arranged in panicles, emerging from the stem.
The fruit is an oval-shaped berry, 4-6 cm long, yellowish-green, and juicy.
Propagation is carried out generatively (from seeds) and vegetatively (from cuttings, grafting, and budding).
Plant the seedlings in holes approximately 25 cm in diameter and 30-40 cm deep.
Treats coughs, colds, fever, flu, insect bite infections, mumps, diabetes, allergies and tinea versicolor, eliminates bad breath (halitosis), rheumatism, mouth ulcers, acne, high blood pressure, and toothache.

Cough
Prepare 10 g of starfruit flowers, 5 g of rock sugar, 500 ml of water, and 2 tbsp of honey (optional).
Wash the starfruit flowers thoroughly and place them in a container, adding the rock sugar.
Heat a small steamer and cook the flowers for 25 minutes. Once boiling, remove from heat and strain, pressing the liquid to release the liquid.
Drink 3 times daily.
