The White Alder originates from Mexico and the West Indies. This flower has now spread throughout the world. In Indonesia, it is commonly found in the areas of Java, Sumatra, Madura, and Kalimantan. This flowering plant is known as an ornamental plant, pest control plant, and also as a medicinal plant.
This plant is found growing wild in abandoned land, fields, cemeteries, stream banks, and grows in clusters. It commonly grows in dry, sandy areas at an altitude of 10–250 m above sea level (m.a.s.l.), in places that receive direct sunlight or are slightly protected.
Root (Akar) Taproot.
Stem (Batang) Older stems are brown, hard, and woody.
Leaves (Daun) Simple (single), lanceolate shape, coarsely serrated margin, pinnate venation. Leaves grow at the tip of the plant.
Flower (Bunga) Solitary, bisexual flower. It has 5 detached petals (mahkota), inverted ovate shape, and are bright yellow in color. There are 5 stamens and 3 pistil stalks shaped like a brush.
Fruit (Buah) Berry (buni), round shape, 3-valved with a thick skin. The fruit is protected by two bracts (protective leaves). The fruit grows at the base of the leaf.
Propagation is done by seeds and stem cuttings. Cut the stem section to a length of 8–10 cm. The planting hole should have a diameter of 5 cm and a depth of 5 cm.
Treats duodenal ulcers, gastric ulcers, rheumatism and swelling in the joints, acts as an antibiotic against (Staphylococcus aureus), and treats headaches.
Saponins, flavonoids, alkaloids, tannins, phenolic compounds, amino acids, terpenoids, and cardiac glycosides.
