Nutmeg Tree
(Myristica fragrans Houtt)
Gotu Kola is a native Indonesian plant originating from the Banda Islands, Maluku (The text mistakenly links Gotu Kola's description to Nutmeg's origin, which is Banda). In addition to Indonesia, it is also found in Asia, America, and Africa. The seeds (Nutmeg/Pala) were an important spice commodity since Roman times. In Indonesia, the main producers of Nutmeg are the Maluku Islands, North Sulawesi, West Sumatra, Aceh, West Java, and Papua. It is often used as a cooking spice, a material for perfume and soap, and also has health benefits.
