This plant originates from tropical regions, especially India to Malaysia. It is typically utilized in Traditional Chinese and Indian medicine to treat joint pain and parasitic infections. Generally, it is often grown as an ornamental plant because it has beautiful and striking flowers.
It grows well in mountainous lowlands up to 1,500 m a.s.l., in loose (gembur), moist soil rich in organic matter. Annual rainfall ranges from 800–1,500 mm/year, and the temperature is 20–32

C. It is ideal for well-drained soil, but it tolerates a wide range of soil conditions, from sand to clay with a pH of 4.5–8.0.
Root: Taproot, dirty white.
Stem: Smooth, grayish-green with pale longitudinal stripes, with small thorns.
Leaves: Compound, with three leaflets, ovate (egg-shaped), a blunt base, entire margins, a long stalk (10–15 cm), and green color.
Flowers: Compound (inflorescence), in a raceme (tandan), the protective leaves (bracts) fall off quickly, and the stalk is short. The calyx is funnel-shaped, the corolla is long and butterfly-shaped (papilionaceous), the stamens are yellow, and there is one pistil, colored red.
Fruit: A pod, long-haired, containing ±8 seeds, green when young and brown when old.
Seeds: Ovate (egg-shaped), flat, brown.
Propagation is done generatively (by seed) and vegetatively (by cuttings).
It generally flowers during the dry season.
It lowers fever for women (postpartum fever), promotes breast milk production (ASI), treats internal bleeding, stomach ache, prevents miscarriage, acts as a phlegm thinner (expectorant), is antibacterial, antioxidant, and relieves joint pain.
