Bangles originate from the tropical climates of South India and Southeast Asia, including Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Myanmar, Laos, and Cambodia. In Indonesia, particularly in Java, bangles are used not only as a traditional medicine (to treat redness) but also as a ward off spirits from newborns.
Grows in the lowlands to an altitude of 1,300 m above sea level. Likes open areas with sufficient sunlight, well-drained soil, high organic matter.
The rhizomes are round, irregular, creeping, and fleshy with yellowish skin. The bark is light yellowish brown.
The pseudostem is composed of a collection of leaf sheaths with hairy edges and grows upright.
The leaves are simple, alternate, oblong, thin, with pointed tips, blunt bases, smooth edges, fine hairs, and pinnate veins. 23-35 cm long, 20-40 cm wide, green, and hairy on the backs.
The flowers are compound, clustered, emerging from the stem tips, ovate. The petals are arranged like thick, tubular scales and are bright red.
The fruit is round, 17 mm long, has a thin skin, and contains many purple seeds.
Vegetative propagation (rhizomes).
Mature rhizomes weighing 25-40 g that have sprouted in pots/polybags (1-1.5 months) can be transplanted to the field.

Take 50 g of bangle rhizome.
Clean the bangle then grate it.
