This plant is widely found in Southeast Asia. Sweet Leaf Bush has been cultivated in several East and Southeast Asian countries as a medicinal plant and vegetable. Its leaves can be used as a green food coloring. This plant is also often planted as a hedge.
This plant grows in the lowlands to the highlands up to an altitude of 1,300 m above sea level. Tolerant of shady conditions, ideal at an air temperaturea of 21-32 °C with humidity between 50-80%. Tolerant of various types of soil, grows optimally in soil that is fertile, loose, contains lots of humus, is well aerated and drained, and has an acidity degree (pH) of 5.5-6.5.
Taproot.
The stem is erect, woody, with young stems green and older ones brown.
The leaves are arranged alternately on a single stalk, consisting of compound leaflets, small and similar to moringa leaves. The leaf blades are oval to round, green, and 5-6 cm long.
The flowers are solitary, small, dark red to yellowish with red spots.
The fruit has a 1.25 cm long stalk and contains black seeds.
Propagation is done by stem cuttings.
Cut a 20 cm stem/branch and plant it vertically in the planting area to a depth of 10-15 cm.
