This is one of the plant species commonly found in tropical regions. In Indonesia, this shrub is often planted as a yard hedge. Legundi also has benefits as a raw material for traditional medicine. Several ethnic groups in Indonesia have utilized its leaves as an anti-asthma herbal drink (jamu).
This plant grows wild in teak forests, secondary forests, and scrubs. It prefers barren, hot, and sandy places. It grows at altitudes up to 1,100 meters above sea level (m.a.s.l.). It can easily grow in various types of soil.
Stem: Woody, round, hairy twigs, dirty white color.
Leaves: Compound, with three leaflets, obovate (inverted egg shape), pointed tip and base, smooth margin, pinnate venation, green color, the lower surface is hairy with a white color.
Flower: Compound, in the form of a panicle, pale purple, emerging from the tip of the stalk.
Fruit: Round, with a hard wall.
Propagation: Vegetatively (old stem cuttings) and generatively (seeds).
Analgesic (pain reliever), diuretic (promotes urine flow), deworming agent, stimulates sweating, remedy for asthma, cough, and reproductive health (uterus health).
