Sunflowers are native to North America, Mexico, Chile, and Peru. They are the national flower of Ukraine and the official state flower of Kansas. They are found as a garden flower and are widely cultivated as an ornamental plant. Sunflower oil is often used as a salad dressing and as a raw material in the cosmetics and lubricant industries.
