Native to the southeastern United States, Latin America (Paraguay and Uruguay), and the Caribbean, it is also found in Africa and Asia. In Southeast Asia, Cuba, and tropical West Africa, this plant is cultivated as a vegetable. It also has medicinal, ornamental, and livestock fodder uses.
Javanese ginseng can grow in lowlands up to 1,250 m above sea level, with rainfall ranging from 2,000 to 4,000 mm per year. It prefers sandy clay soil with a high organic content and a light intensity of at least 75%.
The taproot is brown.
The stem is woody, round, grooved, hairy, and brownish-green.
The leaves are opposite, short-stalked, ovate, and have flat edges with pointed tips and bases. The veins are pinnate and green. They are 3-10 cm long and 1.5-5 cm wide.
The inflorescence is compound, umbrella-shaped, with five reddish-purple petals.
The seeds are small, flat, round, and shiny black, measuring 0.7-1 mm.
Propagated generatively (seeds) and vegetatively (stem/branch cuttings 12 cm long).
Plant at a spacing of 50 x 40 cm.
Harvest leaves after 3-6 months and roots after 7 months.
Activities as an antibacterial and anti-inflammatory, smooths breast milk, treats boils and wounds, tonic, body fitness, eliminates fatigue, cold sweats, dizziness, phlegmy coughs, pneumonia, frequent urination, irregular menstruation, treats diabetes, prevents Alzheimer's disease, treats diarrhea, impotence, stomach pain, and vaginal discharge.

Boils
Wash a sufficient amount of fresh leaves and add brown sugar to taste, then grind finely.
Apply the mixture to the boil, then wrap it with a clean cloth.
Note: Fresh roots must be steamed first. Using fresh roots directly can cause diarrhea.
