Originating from tropical America and spread to various countries, including Indonesia, this plant is known as Dayak onion because it is widely found and commonly used as a medicinal plant by the Dayak people of Central Kalimantan and also as a cooking spice.
Ecologically, Dayak onions can grow well in mountainous areas at altitudes of 600-2,000 m above sea level, with a soil pH of 6-7. They are suited to humus-rich, moist soil conditions in a variety of climates.
The roots are fibrous and light brown.
The leaves are ribbon-shaped, with pointed tips and a flat green base. It has two types of leaves: perfect, ribbon-shaped leaves with pointed tips, and stem-like leaves, arranged in pairs with a double-pinnate leaf structure.
The single, white flowers are found in the upper leaf axils, in clusters of four flowers. The flowers bloom in the afternoon, between 5 and 7 PM.
The fruit is oblong with a notched tip. When ripe, it splits into three cavities containing numerous seeds.
The seeds are ovoid or nearly square, dark brown.
The tubers are elongated, red, and odorless.
Propagation using tubers. Tubers can be planted directly in the soil.

Reduces blood fat
50g fresh tubers, ½ cup boiled water.
Slice the tubers, then mash and squeeze. Strain and add ½ cup hot water.
Drink ¼ cup, morning and evening.
Can also be consumed raw, 7-10 cloves, 3 times daily. Consuming them with a banana can reduce the odor of the tubers.
