The cockscomb is thought to originate from Africa, India, and North America, and is also widespread in several regions of Asia. It is commonly grown as an ornamental and medicinal plant. This plant was discovered by the Socfindo Conservation Team in Martebing village, Serdang Bedagai Regency.
Lives in lowlands up to an altitude of 1,000 m above sea level, with a hot temperature of 30-35 °C. Prefers places with annual rainfall between 1,500-2,500 mm/year, and a soil pH between 6-6.5.
Taproot.
The stem is thick and strong, branched, and grooved.
The leaves are ovate to elongated, with pointed tips, and alternate.
The inflorescences are spike-shaped, thick, fleshy, and shaped like a cock's comb.
The fruit is ovate, greenish-red, and cracks when ripe.
The seeds are small and black.
Generative propagation (seeds) is achieved by sowing the seedlings first.
After 2 weeks, when 3-4 leaves begin to develop, thin the plants to ensure optimal growth.
Treats insect bites, visual disturbances, anti-inflammatory, gonorrhea, irregular menstruation, stomach cramps, diarrhea, dysentery, vaginal discharge, red eyes, stops bleeding (nosebleeds, coughing up blood, vomiting blood, bloody urine, bloody hemorrhoids, uterine bleeding), urinary tract infections, relieves fever.
Bunga: kaempferitrin, amaranthin, pinitol amarantin dan isocelosianin. Daun: saponin, flavonoida dan polifenol. Biji: fenolik, celosialdehyde, saponin (cristatin, celosin A-D), flavonoid, steroid, triterpenoid.
Irregular menstruation
Wash 15 g of cockscomb leaves.
Step with 1 cup of boiled water, cool, and strain.
Drink the concoction.
