(Syzygium Aqueum (Burm.f.) Alston)
Originating from Brazil, it then spread to India, Thailand, China, and Central and South American countries. The water apple plant is related to the clove, round guava, and guava plants. Besides being served as a table fruit, in rujak (fruit salad), and pickled fruit, this plant has medicinal uses, including the use of its bark as a remedy for mouth ulcers.
Grows well at an altitude of 5–500 m above sea level. Direct sunlight with an intensity of 40-80%, temperature ranging from 10-28 °C, humidity 50-80%. Grows well in the long dry season and with good drainage.
The taproot has smaller root branches.
The stem is large at the base, narrowing as it goes up, and has a smooth surface.
The leaves are elliptical with blunt tips and are generally green on top.
The flowers are two whitish-yellow petals, located in the leaf axils.
The fruit is a berry, single, fleshy, and smooth. Shapes vary, but are generally bell-shaped, round-triangular, or oval with a notch.
The guava fruit contains 4-5 round, white-brown seeds.
Generative propagation involves seeds, vegetative propagation through grafting, budding, and cuttings.
