Leaving Texas in our rear view mirrors, we headed north to Kansas, looking for a slight chance of tornadoes. Even though it was a longshot, we've gotten lucky other times when it was even more unlikely!

...so Charles did what he could to increase the convection...

Unfortunately, it wasn't enough, 'cause the day was a bust. We hung around a convenience store in Independence, KS for a few hours, waiting for something (ANYTHING!) to happen... but Mother Nature decided to be boring. We finally called it a day and headed for the nearest Pizza Hut.

Fortunately, after dinner we were treated to a lovely sunset, so the day wasn't a complete waste.

So we headed to Tulsa, OK, keeping our hopes alive for tomorrow's chase.
